What is a local move?
A Local move is a move that takes place within the states border, every country has its own definition on what is the maximum distance, usually not exceeding 100 miles from origin to destination. If the distance between the origin to the destination is greater than the state's definition, the move shall be considered as a Long Distance move. In a local move the charge is based on an hourly rate, changing by the amount of movers, or in some cases by the time of day. In some states such as California for example, moving companies have to get an additional license in order to offer local move services. That license is granted by the P.U.C department, and in order to get it a moving company has to go through a series of exams checking the company's knowledge in state law and D.O.T regulation. Another rule in some state's such as California for example, is that the travel time between origin to destination must be doubled. It means that if the travel time between the origin and destination is 20 minutes, so your mover will charge you for 40 minute of double travel time.
How many movers do i need?
Naturally, the bigger your apartment or house will be, you will need more movers to finish the move in a reasonable time.
An important role in a local move is: The less hours the movers work at your residence The less money you will end up paying.
On the other hand, you don’t want to have too many movers in your one ur place bedroom apartment and watch some of them just looking around because there is no enough job for them. Here is our suggestion for your convenience:
Studio apartment: 2 movers 1 bedroom apartment: 2 movers
